Brad Pitt, 45, will make his Japanese TV debut on SMAP×SMAP on Nov 16 (10 p.m. on Fuji TV). He will be accompanied by director Quentin Tarantino, 46. The pair were in Japan last week to promote their movie “Inglourious Bastards,” opening November 20.

What is Bistro SMAP?
Bistro SMAP is a regular portion of SMAP’s weekly one-hour variety TV show, ‘SMAPXSMAP.’ Nakai Masahiro plays maître d’ of the bistro, while the other four members divide up into two chef teams and compete to impress the palettes of different guests each week.

Guests are usually very famous actors, musicians, models, comedians, politicians. . . you name it! Bistro SMAP has fed many people of both the Japanese and International entertainment high-society. Notable Hollywood guests include Madonna, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nicolas Cage, Whoopi Goldberg and Will Smith.

So what’s on their menu you ask? There’s actually no menu. Guests are welcome to order whatever they desire. Using the best ingredients, with techniques taught by professional chefs, Kimura Takuya, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Inagaki Goro Katori Shingo whip up fine dining while Nakai chats with guests.

In the end, the guest(s) will choose the winning team, reward them with either a gift or a kiss on the cheek (if the guest is a woman, though it has happened with male guests too!). That’s why the Bistro Chef hats have ‘Kiss marks’ on the side.

This segment has become so popular, SMAP has even released best-selling cookbooks.
