First Week of August, Two Stars, Two Drug Arrests

1. Oshio Manabu (31) - Japanese actor, well known as the husband of Japanese actress Yada Akiko is arrested by Tokyo police for drug use and possible involvement in the death of a woman.

Drug case: Urine test for Oshio showed positive for MDMA, a.k.a Ecstacy - he denies taking it , explaining, a friend had given it to him and took it unknowingly.

Death case: Police received call on Sunday night from a Roppongi Hills apartment building, and found a naked woman dead, who turned out to be a top Ginza hostess in her 30s, on a bed. Police questioned the caller as well as Oshio, who is reported to be an ‘acquaintance’ of the hostess. After investigation, it turns out the luxury apartment belongs to an owner of a lingerie business and had been used as a ‘play spot.’ This incident could reveal several other drug and sex scandals in the big money world of Tokyo.

Yada Akiko

Career damage: Famous entertainment management company, Avex, has let go of Oshio, explaining he has had broken the terms of his contract. As for his beautiful wife, some sources say her agency released a statement today which mentioned both Yada and the agency were very shocked about what happened to Oshio. They admitted that Yada had been living separately from Oshio for about half a year. The statement further stated, Yada was unaware of Oshio’s recent activity, but still felt responsible for her husband’s incident. At the moment, she is not issuing comments to media sources.

2. Takaso Yuichi (41) - pro surfer and husband of very famous J-pop idol from 80’s and 90’s Sakai Noriko (38) arrested for stimulant drugs.

Drug case: Caught in a late-night routine questioning by police in the Shibuya area, Takaso was found in possession of stimulant drugs and arrested on the spot.

The Damage: Since her husband’s arrest on Sunday, Sakai Noriko (a.k.a Norippi) has gone missing. Friends, family, and her agency are reporting they haven’t seen her, and are urging the public and Tokyo metropolitan police to search for the idol. There’s been recent speculation of a split between the couple. The couple met in 1998, when she was just getting into water sports and he was running a sports shop in Tokyo.
