This weekend is the 33rd annual Powell Street Festival - the largest Japanese Canadian festival and the longest running community celebration in Vancouver! From August 7 to the 9, it’s the 2009 North American Taiko Conference in North America in L.A., and in Ilinois, there’s a Sushi Rolling Party at the Japanese Cultural Centre August 2. How do I know all of this? It’s because I’m connected in this digital world. . . just jokes. The truth is I’ve come across this fantastic site called discovernikkei.com - their focus is to help create and sustain a community of Japanese migrants and their descendants, and their event listing is really fun to look at for anybody interested in taking in Japanese culture or helping out your local Japanese community.

The best part is that we all get the chance to pitch in to the event listing - so if you know of any events in your city/town and you want to help promote it, I urge you to create an account - it takes only a few seconds, I promise! Then hover your mouse over the Community tab > click Events > click on ‘Add an Event‘.
