Japanese Television Inspired Video-Editing

Editor’s Notes

Gavin Driver is my Twitter friend, as well as a contributing writer on AlmostJapanese.com. Living in the UK, this artistic fellow is a video editor, T-Shirt designer (Mingled) and a self-proclaimed Japanophile. Gathering footage from his trip to Japan in 2008, he created this video with editing techniques inspired by the Japanese variety shows that run from the wee hours of the morning to late past midnight 7 days a week. He’s also looking for a native Japanese speaker to do the voice over commentary to complete the effect - so if you’re interested leave your contact info in the comment box.

During my holiday in Japan in 2008, I shot a fair amount of footage. After editing a more traditional holiday video, I decided to edit a few clips together which show the curious side of Japan, at least to a Westerner. The style of the video is very common on Japanese TV, especially light entertainment shows and ads. Knowing only a little Japanese, I’m not sure whether all the words are correct here. I am also looking out for a native Japanese speaker to do a voice over commentary for it, just to finish the effect.
