Uniqlo’s Competition for Cheap Jeans

Uniqlo clothing retailer, famous for their affordable prices in Japan, could be facing some competition for the lowest price tag. According to Kyodo News, Aeon Co., the nation’s largest retailer (comparable to Wal-mart) announced they will start selling Chinese mass-produced jeans this week at the price of ¥880, a whole ¥100 yen below the ¥990 price offered by Uniqlo. Aeon is confident this price will make their jeans of its Topvalu brand, the least expensive in the industry…
A fashion-conscious society dressed in ~9 dollar jeans?? Even Costco’s Kirkland jeans aren’t that cheap. . . I really hope Japan’s economy turns around soon!
